Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed which was based in Washington DC. She became a Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. In 1992, she was appointed the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She was a member of an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Her coverage included a variety of significant stories, including the Iran-contra affair, the budget and tax reform in addition to the issue of arms control. She traveled widely with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
